Road of Stars


The third novel in the Grosh Saga opens in 1868. White Cloud, a young Wintu boy, has set off on a quest to locate his missing father, a white man his mother had found bleeding from a bear attack near their village. His journey, and that of his sister, Little Wind, his friend, Tommy Wepa, a Maidu boy living on the same reservation at Mendocino, and Mei Lim, a young Chinese girl and “Daughter of Joy,” leads each of them from their Roads of Stars to the Iron Trail of the First Transcontinental Railroad. The last Golden Spike is about to be driven, forever sealing the fate of America’s indigenous peoples.
